Wesley Medical Staffing is currently seeking and hiring Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) for contract Correctional LPN positions in Columbia, SC.

Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Responsibilities: 
  • Patient Assessment & Monitoring: Conduct health screenings (sick call) per standing orders; monitor and record vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure); observe and record patient responses to treatment or change in condition.
  • Medication & Treatment Administration: Administer medication (oral, subcutaneous) as ordered; ensure proper documentation; perform clinical treatments (e.g wound care, dressing changes, basic procedures) using universal precautions.
  • Medical Record / Documentation: Document nursing care provided, patient responses, and all orders; transcribe physical orders into medical records; maintain accurate records when inmates are transferred (medical records and medication)
  • Clinical Procedures & Lab:  Assist with or perform lab specimen collection, basic diagnostic tasks; assist physicians in medical exam or specialized procedures as needed.
  • Other Duties: Perform additional duties as assigned, which may include supervisor of other healthcare support staff or assisting in institutional health programs.
Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Requirements:
  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing
  • Current, unencumbered license to practice as an LPN in South Carolina (or from a qualifying nurse licensure compact state)
  • Meet health screening requirements (e.g. TB test, vaccinations, drug screen) and pass backgrounds checks
  • Ability to follow established medical protocols, policies, and correctional security procedures
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification-AHA
  • Must be professional, punctual and reliable
