Advanced Practice Provider Responsibilities:
- The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) performs comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, orders, conducts, supervises, interprets diagnostic and laboratory test, and prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments in the direct management of acute and chronic illness in care of the critically ill patient.
- Promotes health and the prevention of illness and injury.
- Practices autonomously and in collaboration with other health care professionals to treat and manage patient health problems.
- The role of the APP includes direct patient/family care, consultation, research, patient/families/groups and community advocacy to holistically care for complex patient care needs.
- Serves as a member of the ICU team with the primary responsibility of managing a caseload of critically ill patients under the supervision of the ICU supervising Physician.
Advanced Practice Provider Requirements:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing as Advanced Practice Nurse OR Master’s Degree as a Physician Assistant by the National Board of Medical Examiners, or the Academy of Physician’s Assistants Required
- Two (2) or more years or experience as a critical care nurse or two (2) years serving as a Physician Assistant
- Current Georgia License as a Registered Professional Nurse is required for NPs
- Current Georgia Authorization/Certification as a NP Advanced Practice Registered Professional Nurse is required
- Advanced Practice Registered Nurse, or Physician's Assistant, specializing in critical care services for in-patient setting
- Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardio Life Support (ACLS) certifications are required
