Shifts: 8 hours/5 days a week or 10 hours/4 days a week depending on need 
Pay Package: $2,200-3,200/week including weekly stipend for travelers DOE
 
Wesley Medical Staffing is currently seeking Registered Nurses (RNs) for contract Correctional RN positions in Herlong, CA.

 
Contract Corrections Registered Nurse (RN) Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient care services in accordance with legal, ethical, and institutional standards through the evaluation of patients and therapeutic treatment as ordered by Health Services clinical staff
  • Perform nursing duties within the scope of the current licensure
  • Administer medications as prescribed i.e., by mouth, intradermal, subcutaneously, or intramuscularly
  • Assist with distribution of medications at pill line
  • Monitor and evaluate the response to therapy
  • Perform skin testing
  • Provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services for the inmate
  • Take medical histories, examine patients, and order and interpret laboratory tests and x-rays
  • Perform venipuncture for the purpose of obtaining laboratory specimens
  • Maintain accurate logs of all reports in accordance with Bureau of Prisons and AAAHC/JC policy. Screen laboratory tests/results for normal/abnormal lab values and notify the physician or physicians.
  • Ensure all sharps are secured, accounted for, stored and disposed of according to institutional and national policy
  • Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality
  • Adhere to infection control policies and procedures
  • Ability and skill to operate EKG
  • Clinically manage injuries by splinting, and immobilizing
  • Attend to medical emergencies
  • Work collaboratively with the staff physician(s) and consulting physician(s) in planning, instituting, evaluating and revising program plans
  • Assists in determining conditions, resources and policies essential to delivery of the health care services
  • Discriminates between normal and abnormal findings to recognize early stages of serious physical, emotional, or mental problems
  • Manages the daily operation of the clinic and conducts daily sick call; which may include securing health histories from the patient, recording findings and providing clinical evaluations
  • Provides a wide range of emergency services, in the absence of the physician
  • Perform duties as required but accept only those nursing assignments that are commensurate with his/her educational preparation, training, experience, and licensure laws.
  • Assist with all aspects of the Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) Program, within the scope of practice of current licensure.

Corrections Registered Nurse (RN) Requirements:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Must have an active nursing license in the state of Nevada or California
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse (RN), ideally in Corrections
  • Must have current Basic Life Support Certification
